Character Traits: Joy
Galatians 5:22-23
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 NASB
While happiness is often driven by outside circumstances, joy comes from within the believer, in spite of outward events. Inward joy is derived from an assurance and trust in God, based on His grace and His sovereignty. It is a delightful peace that comes from a right relationship with God, having been justified by faith, and is often expressed in praise to the Lord. It is a calming hope knowing that God is in control, working all things according to His purpose, and that He will provide what is needed to face uncertain circumstances.
Lord Jesus, no matter what comes my way, I rejoice in You my Savior, my Deliverer, my Rock, my Protector, my Keeper and Sustainer.
