Sin’s Reign
Romans 6:12-13a
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness;” Romans 6:12-13a NASB
A believer is not to let sin reign, rule, control, dominate, master, have power over any part of his physical body. Sin is an expert at manipulations and enticements that cause one to passionately crave the sin. Giving in to these yearnings causes one to hand over his body to sin as a tool, an instrument, a weapon, that does these wicked and unrighteous acts. Instead of yielding to sin, a believer is to surrender his body over to God to be used for righteousness.
Lord Jesus, sin so easily entices and entangles me. Instead of allowing sin to control me and to use my body for sin, I yield my mind and my body to honor and glorify You.
